Robert Franklin Kimble died on April 6, 2007 at Candler Hospital. He lived most of his life here in Savannah. He was a 1973 graduate of Kaiserslautern American High School in Germany. He was a graduate of Drill Sergeant School at Fort Sill, OK in 1982. He was a Deputy Sheriff for Chatham County for 15 years. He was also a retired U.S. Army Sergeant and served in the Gulf War Conflict. He received an Army Good Conduct Medal, A NCO Professional Development Ribbon, an Army Retired Lapel Button, a Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, and a Kuwait Liberation Medal. He was member of Baum Holder Military Lodge #144, Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order of the Mystic Shrine of North & South America,founder of the Color Guard for the Chatham County Sheriff Department, and a volunteer for the Big Brothers Mentor Single Parent Project. He is survived by; wife, Alethia Kimble; parents, James and Bernice Kimble Sr.; one son, Ruperto Mitchell II; six daughters, Delettra Jackson, Nicolette Roberts, Nikesha Kimble, Dashuna Kimble, Robin Wiggins, and Shakira Mitchell; four brothers, James kimble Jr., Bruce Kimble, Tyrone Kimble, and Ronald Kimble; four sisters, Sharon Kimble, Gina Campbell, Karen K. Gregory, and Rubeana Kimble; two grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, April 13, 2007 at Second African Baptist Church, located at 123 Houston Street. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. There will be a visitation held in his honor from 6:00-7:00 P.M. on Thursday April 12, 2007 at Second African Baptist church.
