Roosevelt Eady, 83, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Memorial Health U.M.C.
Brother roosevelt Eady, Sr. was born on July 22, 1929, in Garnett, SC to Allen and Julia Golden-Eady. His early education took place in Robertsville, SC. Roosevelt lived most of his life in Savannah, Georgia.
Brother Eady worked many years and retired from the International Longshoremen's Association. He enjoyed his work and often told his family about his experiences being a Longshoreman. He had many friends whose lives he touched, and left a loving and lasting impression on that will last for many yeras to come.
He was a member of Stout's Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Savannah, GA, where he served faithfully as a Church Trustee until his failing health limited his activities. However, he still continued to serve faithfully with his church on every opportunity available.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Buford Eady and his second wife, Mary Palmer Eady; his son, Roosevelt James eady; and his brother, John Eady, Sr.
We are blessed and elated to have had Mr. Roosevelt Eady in our lives as a father, father-in-law, and grandfather. His life and generosity has touched our lives in so many ways. The value of life's lessons we have learned from him over the years will continually be incorporated into our lives for years to come. He was a very giving man to most people that came in contact with him. His commitment to us and our unconditional love for him will see us through in the future. His memory is engraved in our hearts and we already miss his presence. We will never gorget his words, deeds, and actions. We will also believe that he alwyas had our best interest at heart and did whatever he could to make it a true reality. He may be temporarily gone from our sight but we know he is in a better place and he will continue to live in our hearts. Therefore, we celebrate his life and legacy at his Home Going Celebration today and we thank God for allowing us to be a part of his life, and for that we were truly blessed.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Rochelle (Lawrence) Thomas, both of Attapulgus, GA; his daughter-in-law, Inez Eady of Savannah, GA; seven (7) grandchildren, eighteen (18) great-grandchildren; nieces, and nephews. He leaves behind many beloved cousins, Lateacha Eady, Julia Mae Eady, Joyce Anthony and a host of many friends and loved ones.
Visitation for Mr. Eady will be held Friday, February 8, 2013 from 7~8 Pm in the Chapel of Williams & Williams Funeral Home
