Shirley

Shirley Richards (Shelly Duncan) was a loving spirit born to Miles and Delia Duncan on May 4, 1912, in Ellertonville Co., South Carolina. Shelly was the seventh child born of this union.

Shelly received her formal education in Sylvania, Georgia and later moved to Savannah, Georgia. She graduated from the Post Graduated School of Nursing, Chicago, IL. She worked in Miami, Florida as a practical Nurse in 1961. Shelly later met and married the late A.V. Richards of Natchitoches, LA on March 3, 1944. No children were born to this union. However, she played a major part in raising her cousin, Wesley Bush.

Shelly held numerous jobs in Miami, Florida after receiving her certificate as a Practical Nurse.

On May 20, 2009, Shelly departed this life at the Claridge House Nursing Home in North Miami, Florida. God summoned her soul to rest. He gently closed Shelly's eyes and whispered "Peace Be Thine". Not only will she be missed by family but by everyone who knew her.

Shelly leaves to cherish her loving memories: three nephews, Joseph Duncan, Cleveland Duncan, and Gerald Duncan; one niece, Retha Rogers; one cousin, Wesley Bush; one sister-in-law, Eloise Duncan; and many grand nephews, and cousins.
