Shirley Johnson

December 9, 1948 — January 10, 2011

Shirley Ann Clark Johnson was born on December 9, 1948 in Savannah, GA. She passed away peacefully at her son's home in Covington, GA.

Shirley graduated from the almighty Beach High School in 1966. She worked at The Savannah Bank, The Housing Authority of Savannah, and The City of Savannah before retiring. Shirley was born to the late Susie Clark Reeves and Samuel Rountree. At the age of eighteen, Shirley's aunt, Mrs. Pauline Wright, assumed the role of her mother and loved her until her passing in 2009.

Shirley will forever be remembered by her devoted children: Eric A. Clark, Michael Benjamin (Tangelia), and Todd Benjamin; treasured grandchildren, Jacquana, Todd, Jr., Ashlee, Michael Caleb, Jr., Isaiah, Joshua, and Hayley; loving sisters Ruby Lee Brown, Marilyn Reeves Jackson, and Miraim Lexley; brothers, Arthur Reeves III, David Rountree, Vincent Rountree, Samuel Rountree, and Richard Rountree; two loving aunts, Mary Jenkins and Wilma Jean Mincey; one uncle, Harold Mincey; two special cousins, Beverly Santos and Chester Wright; caring nieces and nephews, along with countless family and friends who were blessed to have known her. Shirley loved listening to gospel music, helping homeless people in the community, laughing, being with her family, cooking fish, and talking weekly with her niece, Bridgett Bryant-Gordon. Shirley touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of style and great cooking all the way to the end.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at H.R. Delaney Ministries, 2718 Mechanics Avenue. Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery.
