Thomas Mcnall Martin

December 21, 1938 — April 26, 2016

Thomas McNall Martin, 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Candler Hospital. He was born to the late Joseph Theron Martin and Helen Marie McNall Martin on December 21, 1938, in Savannah, Georgia. He was the beloved brother of Kathryn Martin Shiley and of the late Joseph Bragg Martin.
He was educated at Cathedral Day School and Blessed Sacrament School, attended Benedictine Military School and graduated from Commercial High School in 1958. He spent his early years as a salesman for Milkmaid Dairy, Sealtest dairy and Derst Baking Company. He was a longtime member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry and was an integral part of the St. Thomas Thrift Store. He served for many years on the Commercial High School Reunion Committees. He was a humble man, yet a proud and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He traveled to many places in the world with dear friends where his travels were always filled with adventure, excitement, love and laughter. There was always an interesting story to share and laugh about his travels and perhaps many secrets that will never, ever be revealed. Although he shared his birthdate with and was the namesake of Thomas the doubting Apostle, he never had a doubt about his faith. He had a deep love for God, his family and his church.
Other survivors include his wife, Patricia Hodges Martin; three daughters, Cheryl Martin Bolton, Gayle Martin Beasley (Ronald) and Penny Martin Stathopoulos (Stathy); ten grandchildren, Thomas Adam Bolton (Christina), Rachel Elizabeth Bolton, Leah Kathryn Beasley of Hilton Head Island, SC, Laura McNall Beasley Petrak(Andrew) of Chattanooga, TN, Mary Elizabeth Beasley, Patrick Joseph Beasley, Dena Stathopoulos Carroll (Ben) of Houston, TX, Nasia Stathopoulos Norse (William), Maria Stathopoulos Turner (Kenneth) of Houston, TX and Atha Stathopoulos; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Mass and Holy Eucharist will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow in the church parish house.
Remembrances: St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2 St. Thomas Avenue, Savannah, Georgia 31406.
