Thomas Winston “Wimp” Richardson, Sr., 98, of Savannah, died Sunday, May 22, 2016, at home, after an extended illness.
He was born in Brooklet, Ga., and was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Ross Richardson and Nell Dixon Richardson.
He was a veteran of WW II, having served in the U.S. Army, in the Railroad Battalion. He was retired from CSX Railroad, formerly Atlantic Coastline Railroad after a 43-year career. He was very proud of his time as a member of the Board of Directors of the Jenkins Boys Club.
He attended Epworth United Methodist Church for 60 years, until it closed, and then affiliated with Trinity United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Frances New Richardson, Savannah, GA; son and daughter in law, Thomas W. Richardson, Jr., (Cindy) of Evansville, Indiana; 2 granddaughters, Cortney Richardson Green (Kim), and Ashley Richardson; 4 great grandchildren, Kylie, Tyler, Cameron, and Tanner, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church, with Rev. Enoch Hendry, and Rev. Nathan Godley, officiating.
Interment will follow in Bonaventure Cemetery.
