William Robert Price, Sr.

January 2, 1951 — February 19, 2012

William Robert Price, Sr. affectionately known as "Bobby" to some and "Bill" to others, was born to the late John Oscar and Louise Malone Price on January 2, 1951 in Washington, DC. William was the third child born to this union.

William was raised in Savanbnah, Georgia where he joined and attended the St. James A.M.E. Church. He was an active member, especially in the choir. He was educated in Savannah's school system. Wiliam was a member of the Sol C. Johnson High School Band. He graduated from Sol C. Johnson High School in 1969.

Shortly after graduating High School, William joined the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He then transferred to the Naval Reserve in Bainbridge, Maryland. He received a Meritorious Unit Commendation and a National Defense Medal while in the Navy.

William continued his education at Mercer College in New York.

William experienced a "new season". This "new season" was a break through in his life in which there was a rebirth in his heart and soul. This rebirth brought him closer to God and led him to doing even more missionary work. He was ordained at Christ Temple Church in Greenburgh, New York. William traveled to Korea to spread the word of God. For a period of time, he commuted to Washington, DC to lead a church while they were without a Pastor. He served as the youth Pastor of the Metropolitan Church and was the Executive Pastor of te Church of the People; both located in Harlem until his untimely death.

In addition to working for God, he worked for Lehman Brothers, and then Barclays.

He leaves to cherish his memories: three sons, William, Jr., John, and Frederick (Sovuthy); two daughters, Shayla (Christopher) Sweetening and Oshun; four grandchildren, Laquana, Tyquan, Jared, and Oquasia; two brothers, John (Frances) and Louis (Thelia); two sisters, Frazier Childers and Sharon (John) Clark; one uncle, Louis (Elsie) Malone; three aunts, Heneritta Buxton, Lula Kennedy, and Lee Arthur Malone; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves to cherish his memories, his significant other, Yvonne Perkins and his extended families: Perkins/Lyons and Williamson/Coke.

Memorial service for Mr. William R. Price will be held 11:00AM Friday, March 2, 2012 at St. James A.M.E Church 612 East Board Street Interment Beaufort National Cemetery with Military honors.
