Mr. Willie E. Burnett, Jr. was born to the late Willie E. Burnett, Sr. and Vera B. Burnett on November 7, 1946.
He was preceded in death by his sister Rosa Elaine Hayne.
He was a native of Chatham County, where he also attended the public school system. He served in the United States Marine Corps for four years and also was a Vietnam Veteran. Willie also served in the 165th Supply Unit, National Guard and was employed by Imperial Sugar Company for 43 Years. Willie was a member of the Jonesville Baptist Church PAW Inc.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a dedicated wife, Jackie Burnett, Mary Burnett; one son, Earl Simmons of Baton Rouge, LA; four daughters, Kendra Moultrie (Darius) of Savannah, GA, Valarie Burnett, Vanessa Burnett of Baton Rouge, LA, and Beverly Merriman of Rincon, GA; three sisters, Carolyn Kelley (Arthur), Joan McFadden (James), and Gloria Miles all of Savannah, GA; four brothers, Charles Bacon (Ada) of Batavia, NY, Grady Bacon (Arlene) of Las Vegas, NV, Ralph Burnett (Melrose), and Alonzo Burnett both of Savannah, GA; two uncles, Rev. Martin Bacon, Sr. of Newington, GA and Jerome Bacon of Claxton, GA; special cousin, Gary Bacon of Claxton, GA; four grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 12pm Friday, July 15, 2011 at Jonesville Baptist P.A.W., Inc., 5201 Montgomery street, Bishop James G. Rogers officiating. Interment, Greenwich Cemetery. Reposing at the church, Friday from 10am until hour of service.
