Retired SPD officer Willie E. Landy, age 56, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior after a short illness on Monday, April 15, 2019 while at Landmark Hospital in Savannah, Georgia.
Willie (Will) was born April 17, 1962, at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Georgia to his loving parents, Eddie and Mary Landy, who preceded him in death. Will moved to Savannah in 1969 where he lived the majority of his life. He attended Savannah High School and Savannah State University where he played football. His love for football was soon overshadowed when he met the love of his life Deborah (née Fields) in 1992. Deborah and Will married in 1995 and their union raised three children; Frederick, Krystina and Jeremiah.
Will faithfully served the City of Savannah for 17 years as a corporal officer on the Savannah Police Department until he was paralyzed in 2003 in a car accident. He retired from the police force shortly after his car accident but did not retire from his post as Pastor of God’s House for All People in Tatumville where he served for 19 years until his death. Will, also known as Willie, Will, Mr. Landy, Pastor, Uncle Will and Dad, would share Kingdom teachings and his revelations from the Word of God with everyone he encountered. Although he could not go himself, he actively supported missionaries bearing the message of the Kingdom throughout the world.
He will be remembered for his strong belief in God, his great generosity, caring ways, beautiful smile, unfailing work ethics, and the many, many stories of the old days.
He is survived by his wife, their three children, one brother, James Landy, two sisters, Brenda Oruamabo (Siki) and Maria (Rebbie) Landy, his God-daughter, Chassity Rush, God-brother, Sheldon Norris, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
His grandparents Minor and Beatrice Johnson and parents were waiting in heaven to welcome him home. Pastor Landy lived what he preached and greatly impacted many lives during his time upon this earth. He will be greatly missed!
