James A Jenkins Sr. is a native of Savannah. He received his education in the Chatham County School System and graduated in 1979 from Sol C. Johnson High School. He later attended Savannah State College and is a 1987 Graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta Georgia.


He is the father of two sons, the late Master Jamall A. Jenkins and James A. Jenkins, Jr.


His organizational affiliations include Pi Sigma Eta National Mortuary Fraternity, Academy of Graduate Embalmers, Medical College of Georgia Eye Bank Enucleation, Independent Funeral Directors Association of Georgia, Benedict Civic Social Club, and is a licensed insurance Agent.


James has over 30 Years in the Funeral Profession serving thousands of families with care and respect. He is a St. Mary Baptist Church member and used to work at Sidney A Jones Funeral Home from 1984-2003 and Williams & Williams Funeral Home from 2006 until he arrived at Bonaventure in 2017.


He has been given the honor to win the 2003 Mortician of the Year and 2015 State of Georgia's Outstanding Georgia Citizen.


In honor of his late son Jamall James is very active in the community. He supports The March of Dimes and the Leukemia. Lymphoma Society.

James Anthony Jenkins, Jr. Was born June 15, 1988, in Savannah, Georgia to Mrs. Sabrina Brown-Putney and Father, James A. Jenkins Sr. He is the youngest of 2 children he and his brother the late Master Jamall A. Jenkins.


He was raised and reared in a loving home with his mother and grandfather, the late Lawrence Brown, Sr. Where his father took him to school every day. James is a Second Mount Zion Baptist Church member under the pastorate of Rev. Dennis Frazier.


With a very active childhood, James played football, basketball, golf, and baseball for Frank Callen Boys Club. He is a product of the Chatham County public school system where he attended Spencer, East Broad, and Hubert Middle School, and a proud 2006 graduate of Savannah High School. He loved music and was in the band at Hubert Middle School and was mentored by Mr. Marvin Johnson of the Savannah High School Band in his 8th-grade year where he played and marched with the high school band members. James always was very proud of his father and emulated his every move. He began his interest in funeral service when he lost his big brother to cancer in 1996 and his beloved grandfather 30 days later. He joined the church the same year where he attended Sunday School serving as superintendent and was nominated as Jr. Deacon. While at Savannah High School James was very active in the Community as a member of the Kappa League and the Band he achieved the position of Drum Major in his Senior Year. Since his graduation James has mentored the students of the Band and helped assist with any fundraisers for them.


James has been in the funeral service as an intern at Speed/Adams Funeral Home in his senior year and moved upon graduation to his dream to be an assistant to his Father at Williams and Williams Funeral Home. With the traditional values instilled in him by his father, James grew and continued his education to become a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. He attends Ogeechee Technical College where he is earning his Funeral Director and Embalmers Degree.


James loves to help people he became a member of the motorcycle club the Move Riders he has served in several capacities with this organization.


He remembers his brother Jamall with fundraisers and supports the Leukemia, Lymphoma Light the Night walk and the March of Dimes, as well as the Special Olympics.


James' love of music has brought him to his popular name DJ Pleasure where he provides music for any type of social event or party.


James loves family and feels that there is nothing better he has dedicated his life to helping those in need whether it is music, civic, or funeral service.


He is presently in his lifelong dream he is presently assisting his Father at Bonaventure Funeral Chapel and the CEO of A Jenkins Signature Service. Creating lasting memories by serving families in any capacity that he can. James' love for people is his driving force and has one son whom he loves very much, Jaleel K.J Jenkins.
